Consolidate Your Practice and Work Toward Certification

Supervision & Certification is for therapists who have completed the Imago training requirements and wish to deepen their clinical practice while working toward certification.

This stage provides structured clinical consultation as you apply Imago Relationship Therapy with couples in your own practice. It is a space to receive feedback, discuss clinical challenges, strengthen your use of Imago Dialogue and other interventions, and build greater confidence in your work.

You will also receive guidance in preparing your final recorded therapy-session submission for certification review. The purpose of supervision is not only to prepare for the assessment process, but to support you in becoming a more grounded, skilled, and effective Imago therapist.

Certification is awarded only after all training, professional, supervision, and final submission requirements have been met and approved.

Who Is This For?

Supervision & Certification is for therapists who have completed the required Imago training and wish to continue toward formal certification.

It is intended for clinicians who are ready to apply Imago Relationship Therapy in their professional practice and receive feedback on their work with couples.

Prerequisites

To enter Supervision & Certification, you must have completed:

  • Imago Foundations
  • Imago Clinical Skills 1
  • Imago Clinical Skills 2
  • Getting the Love You Want or Keeping the Love You Find workshop led by a Certified Couples Workshop Presenter®

You must also meet the relevant professional eligibility requirements for certification. These include an appropriate mental health qualification or enrollment in an advanced degree program, professional association membership, professional licensure where required, and malpractice insurance.

Please note that each applicant is assessed individually. Participation in the training pathway does not automatically guarantee certification.

What Supervision Includes

During the six-month supervision period, you will meet monthly for clinical consultation and support.

Supervision is designed to help you consolidate what you have learned, work through clinical challenges, and develop greater confidence in using the Imago approach with couples.

During Supervision, You Will:

  • Strengthen your ability to use the Imago Dialogue Process in therapy sessions.
  • Discuss clinical questions, challenges, and difficult relationship dynamics.
  • Develop greater clarity and confidence in your role as an Imago therapist.
  • Prepare for your final certification submission.
  • Receive review of your final recorded therapy session as part of the supervision fee.

The Certification Submission

As part of the certification process, you will submit a recorded therapy session for review.

The recording is intended to demonstrate your ability to use Imago Relationship Therapy competently and effectively in clinical work with a couple. You will receive guidance during supervision on preparing for this submission.

Certification is not automatic. It is awarded only when all training, professional, supervision, and assessment requirements have been completed and your final submission has been approved.
