Facilitator Training
Course Description
This course is for people in a wide range of professions, who wish to deepen their own understanding of relationships and bring that understanding into their personal and professional lives. It may be of particular interest to business people, team leaders, lawyers, physicians, health care professionals, counselors, family mediators, human resource managers, coaches, clergy, etc. It is not a training to become a couples’ therapist or counselor or to do deep emotional and regressive work with couples.
The course consists of approximately one third personal growth work, one third Imago relationship theory, and one third practice of facilitation.
Level 1: FUNDAMENTALS OF FACILITATION
The Imago facilitator training program prepares you for Certification as an Imago Professional Facilitator™ Imago Communication Facilitator™ or an Imago Relationship Facilitator™ and supports coaches, managers, teachers, consultants and leaders in deepening their facilitation skills with individuals, groups, and organizations within a Relational Paradigm.
The facilitation training program consists of four modules, four days or 32 course hours each*. The modules are scheduled with several months in between to enable trainees to practice facilitating clients and prepare recordings of practice sessions.
- Module 1 – Using Imago with individuals.

Learning Objectives
Participants learn and practice the elements of the Imago Dialogue process and how to apply these in various settings with others who are not familiar with this amazingly effective way of communicating. An understanding of basic human developmental needs and areas of functioning guides the Facilitator in their way of being. A clear model of current and desired functioning helps Facilitators conceptualize issues that clients may present with, and to help them move towards new possibilities. Relational ethics and working with diversity are also addressed.
- Learn the Imago dialogue skills and processes that create connection, safety, and transformation in one and one coaching or management, groups, small businesses, and organizations.
- Learn the four theories that provide insight into affinities, conflict and change in team and group dynamics.
- This training will help you as a leader or coach to gain practical facilitation skills.
- Experience Imago’s safe mentoring and feedback process to increase your leadership and facilitation competency and confidence in working with individuals, small and large groups, and organizations.
- Learn about your own relationship and group dynamics.
After this training, participants will be able to:
- Name the four stages of relationships related to belonging
- Be effective at facilitating the dialogue steps of mirroring, validation and empathy
- Demonstrate the skills and processes to work with reactivity
- Discuss that relational impact of developmental stages, unmet needs and character adaptations
- Explain the role of neurobiology in conflict and connection
- Discuss how lost, denied and shadowed parts of the self impact affinities and conflict within groups
- Use tools to manage our own reactivity and challenging feelings that arise when working with individuals, groups and organizations
- Apply Imago theory and the concepts above to your personal journey in relationships and groups
Course Benefits
- Participant may present and market oneself as a Certified Imago Professional Facilitator TM, Certified Imago Relationship Facilitator TM, or Imago Communication Facilitator TM (hereinafter collectively referred to as Certified Imago Facilitator TM) and use the Imago concepts, practices, and exercises within their legally practicing profession recognized in their respective country. To clarify, training as a Certified Imago FacilitatorTM does not qualify the individual to practice Imago Therapy or qualify individuals to become licensed therapists.
- Use of Imago logos
- Participant may professionally facilitate individuals, dyads, groups, and organizations in any desirable professional format such as coaching, consultation, or education.
- Participant may produce or reproduce relevant materials from Imago Relationship Theory and Educational materials provided during training for the purposes of working directly with clients.
- Participant may create derivative works based on the Imago Materials and shall be subject to prior written approval of the Imago IP Support Circle. Contact Sanam Hoon sanam@hunt-hendrix.com for more information.
- Participant may present at conferences and various meetings up to and no more than two hours in length on Imago theory and practice and may demonstrate educational exercises such as public demonstrations of the methods or dialogues that they have learned in facilitator training. These include, for example, Communologue,TM or Imago DialogueTM in a facilitator-to-client context, but shall omit any public demonstrations that could be construed as therapy, the practice of “experiential/regressive” processes and honor copyright laws regarding reproductions of any materials. Reproduction of the materials or any rendition thereof, for public presentations or distributions to audiences outside of direct clients is not permitted without prior written permission from IITI.
Requirements for the Course:
Before the trainee may represent themselves as a Certified Imago FacilitatorTM Participant will need to successfully complete all training requirements set forth by IITI including all participation in all sixteen days (or the equivalent time) of training, recordings of your facilitation, all small group sessions for feedback on your facilitation, and the approval of a final project that demonstrates mastery of Imago Facilitation skills.
Requirements for Admission
- Attendance at a “Getting the Love You Want” or “Keeping the Love You Find” workshop.
- Curriculum vitae with supporting documents, previous experience in personal growth, letters of recommendation, acceptance by Imago instructor.
- Agreement signed with Imago International Training Institute (IITI) regarding training materials, logo, advertising, and titles
- The trainee will work with individuals, leaders, groups and organizations in a professional setting and are required to be clear if they are or are not, qualified and allowed by law to do therapy or clinical work depending on the state, province, or country of their residence.
