Course Description

Brilliant at the Basics is a course that focuses on improving our skills in Dialogue. The goal is to help us understand when and how to use different interventions and enhance our connection with couples. The program goes beyond the basics, teaching us to use sentence stems, doubling, and focusing in a creative way. We will also explore our beliefs about therapy and relationships, fine-tune our therapy approach, and improve our presence when working with couples. By the end of the course, we will be able to explain conflict in couples, use sentence stems and doubling effectively, and apply various Imago processes. Overall, the course aims to deepen our understanding and skills in order to be more proficient in the Dialogue process.

Learning Objectives

Enhance your knowledge of fundamental theories that will assist you in cultivating a harmonious and connected bond with your couples. By the end of this course, you will be able to:

• Explain the “Big Picture” of conflict in couples through the 4 meta-theories.
• Utilize sentence stems, doubling, and directives more effectively, while attuning to couples’ need to safely explore unconscious material.
• Explain and direct the PCD, Appreciation Dialogue, and Commitment Dialogue with greater proficiency.
• Deepen the dialogue process through advanced use of sentence stems, doubling, and focusing.
• Apply integration of the four “meta theories” of Imago alongside deepening tools.
• Utilize the Parent-Child Dialogue and BCR processes.
• Understand how, when, and why to best utilize each of the Imago processes.
